Opening of Supply Chain Innovation CentreThe Supply Chain Innovation Centre (SCIC) Opening Ceremony was held on 1 February 2007 at Hong Kong Science Park with over 300 local and international delegates attended, spanning from a wide spectrum of the business community including manufacturers, retailers, logistics service providers, technology companies and professional bodies. Mr. France Ho, Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology, Innovation Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government was invited as officiating guest and delivered an opening speech. Under the witnessing of Mr. Ho, the Opening of the SCIC formally commenced. Executives of co-hosts - GS1 Hong Kong and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and representatives from the nine Founding Members - Autotoll, Avery Dennison, BEA Systems, Cisco, Maersk Logistics, METRO Group, PCCW Solutions, Schenker, and Tyco ADT performed the Opening Ceremony and then participated in the roast pig cutting ceremony to celebrate the operational start of the facility of the SCIC under an auspicious atmosphere. Guided tours to the three themed zones - Manufacturing Zone, Logistics Zone and Retail Zone of the SCIC were followed, and participants were demonstrated how a series of the latest EPC/RFID technologies and solutions can increase operational efficiency through automation and tracking across the supply chain.
