 ECR Asia is an independent joint trade and industry body launched in 1999 to champion the ECR initiative in the Asia-Pacific region. The ECR Asia Council promotes the use of Efficient Consumer Response techniques as a means of removing unnecessary costs from the Supply Chain and making the sector, as a whole, more responsive to consumer demand. The ECR activities span over 11 Asian economic regions namely Australasia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
ECR Asia Council was set up to
- Deliver the needs of the national/country ECR boards
- Facilitate and co-ordinate mutually and collectively beneficial ECR efforts, practices and processes
- Develop voluntary guidelines
- Awareness, Education and Knowledge Transfer - communicate the Benefits and "Best Practices" of ECR
- Development of a Work Plan
- Enable activity and provide resources (not funding)
- Assist in the establishment of new ECR boards where they don't exist today
- Be the "voice and ears of Asia" in a global ECR context
