Background Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are those who need special attention and hand-holding support on their road towards supply chain excellence. With the emergence of e-commerce (EC) and supply chain management (SCM) and their impacts on global trade, SMEs can no longer stay still and be reactive to customers' requests. In 1999, we set up the SMEs Advisory Board to start assisting this large and delicate sector by raising their awareness on EC and SCM and building up their capabilities in both streams.
Mission The board aims at helping SMEs in Hong Kong overcome obstacles in adopting EC and SCM practices and technologies, thus improving their operational efficiency and increasing their competitive edge in the global marketplace.
Interest Area The board would like to explore how EC and SCM can address needs of SMEs and how SMEs adopt the relevant concept and technologies.
Board Structure The board accommodates a maximum of 16 board members from SME sector. Board meetings are held regularly to share views and latest development in EC. Under the auspices of the board, standing committees and task forces may be set up whenever needed to carry out related activities on on-going basis or project basis respectively. These committees and task forces meet as needed.
