Bearing in our mind is the long-term goal of providing open standards for industry sectors so that they can improve their operational efficiency and make effective communication with the aids of state-of-the-art technology.  Recently, we have initiated the following projects within different industry sectors, driving standard and technology development and adoption:

Apparel & Textiles Express

The project is to define standards on classification, specification and identification coding of 7 major types of raw materials, thus allowing Apparel & Textiles companies to conduct cost-effective communications on these materials through a common business language.

SME Ambassador Program

SMEs in Hong Kong need industry support for migration to good supply chain management (SCM).  This goal of this program is to produce industry guidelines and reference cases for SMEs who wish to introduce automation solutions in their retail and wholesale operations, thus encouraging more SMEs to raise their e-SCM capabilities.

Hong Kong Out-Of-Stock Survey

The survey examines the out-of-stock situation of top 100 products from the major Hong Kong FMCG retail chains including supermarkets, drug stores and convenience stores.  It provides valuable stock-out information for suppliers and retailers' collaborative improvement of customer service.   



Enhancing Electronic Product Code (EPC) Awarenesss & Knowledge Transfer for Hong Kong Leveraging Global and Regional Expertise

Through this program, we would promote to local industries the concept of EPC and how EPC is applied in real-life situations to improve supply chain visibility and efficiency.  The program would encompass development of EPC demonstration unit and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer on both executive and operation levels.  The program would target to deliver a series of awareness events and training seminars to the public.

Export Supply Chain Advisory Board Project Activities

As agreed in the work plan for 2007 – 08, the board focuses to develop supply chain competence key performance indicators for Hong Kong export and sourcing industry for efficient and effective SCM implementation and deliver specific training programs for creating awareness and knowledge transfer to uplift the suppliers in Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta Region.
