Realizing the industry needs of sharing accurate product information between trading partners, the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI), a global user group representing manufacturers and retailers on a worldwide basis, drives the adoption of Global Data Synchronization (GDS) to ensure that timely and accurate updating of item and party information between the owner and all users can always be achieved. The objectives of GDS are to:
- Improve accuracy of supply chain data so that process from product introduction to invoice payment becomes more efficient and less costly.
- Create a foundation for higher level collaboration between trading partners.
