The 22nd GS1 Hong Kong Summit

Go Digital, Go Green, Go Seamless @GS1 HK Summit 2023

First fully in-person Summit held since 2019, GS1 HK Summit 2023 had drawn about 600 cross-industries delegates meeting face-to-face, from HK, Macau and other Greater Bay Area cities.

Themed “Driving Digitialisation and Sustainability for Tomorrow” and supported by Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, the Summit was inaugurated by senior bureaus officials, policy makers and business leaders, and gathering C-suite executives, industry experts and entrepreneurs who shared valuable experiences, market insights and future trends.

Among the lots of inspiring commentaries, the annual consumer survey is reported to extend to 7,000 consumers in 14 markets (Hong Kong, Indonesia, The Philippines, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, India, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea), along with dozens of in-depth case studies across the regions.

The preliminary results, which covered Mainland China and Hong Kong, showed that fewer consumers in both markets can live without physical stores (about 5%) compared to last year results (18%), meaning that they are looking for seamless commerce that connects online & offline.

In the many plenary sessions and track sessions that followed, thought-leaders from a mix of industries explored how digitalisation and sustainability are reshaping the future of retail, finance, healthcare and other sectors.

Concluding the event was the chief of a top retailer, who outlined how O+O transformation and full automation of an online fulfillment centre, help address the common pain points that normal retailers are facing.

Mr. Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of HKSAR Government, offered a congratulatory message and commended that GS1 HK Summit brings global supply chain and retail industry leaders together for an insightful exchange on the future trends and emerging opportunities.
