Celebrating 15th Anniversary of “Consumer Caring Scheme” Promoting Consumer-first to Revive Consumption

Consumer Caring Scheme 15th Anniversary 貼心企業嘉許計劃 15周年

Hong Kong, 26 June, 2025 - The Government has recently unveiled 9 hotspot projects to enhance the travel experience for tourists while boosting consumption in those districts. To capitalize on this opportunity, businesses must prioritize consumer-first strategies, delivering exceptional experiences to both tourists and local consumers. In addition, brands can also join brand recognition schemes that acknowledge their consumer caring strategies and establish a positive brand image. Entering its 15th Anniversary, GS1 Hong Kong’s “Consumer Caring Scheme” is one of the brand recognition schemes and is now accepting applications. We cordially invite companies across industries in Hong Kong to participate.

“Consumer Caring Scheme” (the Scheme) acknowledges local companies that are committed to “consumer-centric” approach in business operations. Recognised companies can showcase the Scheme logo at stores or on promotional materials and gain media exposure to promote their “consumer caring” approach. In the previous year (2024), 80 companies were recognised, with over 40% of them that had participated for over 10 years, demonstrating their dedicated commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, thereby attracting tourists and consumers via consumer-first strategies. The award presentation ceremony was held at the GS1 Hong Kong Annual dinner. (Please refer to appendix for the list of recognised companies.)

Participating companies were assessed based on 4 core principles: consumer centricity, conforming to commitment, strive for quality and caring for staff via self-assessment, interview, third-party consumer survey and field visits. In addition, GS1 Hong Kong has also taken reference to the internationally acclaimed Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) to evaluate companies’ service and performance on consumer care.

Swire Coca-Cola HK has long championed a “consumer-centric” philosophy. Mr. Richard Gould, Director and General Manager, Swire Coca-Cola HK, said, “Being recognised by Consumer Caring Scheme for 14 consecutive years, Swire Coca-Cola HK remains committed to our mission, ‘Our Choice, Our Future,’ by always putting consumers first. We take pride in delivering refreshment through our ‘Made in Hong Kong’ products and a variety of beverages, including low and no-calorie options. To mark our 60th anniversary this year, we are launching initiatives to bring joy to the community. This recognition motivates us to keep improving the consumer experience.”

Joining the “Consumer Caring Scheme” for the first time, mtm labo, has always prioritized consumer experience. Mr. Stanley Mah, Executive Director of the company, said, "We are committed to upholding our [custom-blended] experience. By understanding the skincare needs of consumers, we will recommend personalized products that address their needs, offer a wider variety of products, or even to mark products with customized labels. We are very grateful to be recognised by the ‘Consumer Caring Scheme’, which encourages us to continue delivering better experiences for consumers while promoting our brand's commitment to consumer care."

Ms. Anna Lin, Chief Executive of GS1 Hong Kong said, “Revitalizing consumption has become a key focus for both the Government and the industry. We encourage all brands to adopt 'customer-centric' strategies that address customer needs and deliver exceptional shopping experiences. Additionally, we also support businesses in enhancing consumer confidence through digital platforms, which not only showcase brand certifications and product information, but also link to online sales channels, offer discounts to engage mobile-savvy consumers.”
